Bringing football to the Kimberley

Football Futures Foundation is on a mission to strengthen communities in remote Western Australia and is excited to announce its upcoming Kimberley Tour, set to deliver vital soccer programs to regions including Broome, Ardyaloon, Noonkanbah and Fitzroy Crossing.

The tour is part of the Foundation’s innovative UNITED through Football initiative, which adopts a street-style approach to soccer delivery to engage children and young people who may face barriers to participating in mainstream football. The program focuses on capacity building, strengthening pro-social relationships, community and cultural connections and life skills. UNITED through Football has been funded by the Department of Home Affairs Safer Communities Grant and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries so far, and is delivered in partnership with Football West and community partners.

With the added support of Hyundai Help for Kids, the Foundation’s latest impact partner, the Kimberley Tour will mark a significant step forward in the Foundation’s mission of strengthening communities through the beautiful game.

With the generous contribution of two vehicles provided by Hyundai Help for Kids, Football Futures Foundation is enabled to expand its reach and make a tangible difference in remote areas of the Kimberley. This strategic partnership not only demonstrates Hyundai Australia’s commitment to corporate social responsibility but also underscores the Foundation’s dedication to driving positive change through collaborative efforts.

The Kimberley Tour represents more than just a series of soccer programs—it’s a symbol of inclusion, opportunity and unity. By bringing the joy of football to communities that may otherwise be under-served, Football Futures Foundation is not only nurturing a love for the sport but also instilling values of teamwork, resilience, and community spirit.

“We are thrilled to embark on this Kimberley Tour and extend our reach to remote communities,” said Art Hiemstra, Executive Officer of Football Futures Foundation. “Through the power of football, we aim to inspire, empower, and unite young individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances. With the support of our partners and the unwavering dedication of our team, we are confident that this tour will leave a lasting impact on the lives of those we reach.”

The Kimberley Tour is set to kick off on Saturday 6 April, with eager participants and communities eagerly anticipating the transformative experience that lies ahead. As Football Futures Foundation continues to champion the cause of grassroots football development, the Kimberley Tour stands as a driving force for a brighter, more inclusive future.
