Football Futures Foundation Awarded Play Our Way Grant to Boost Women's and Girls' Sport Participation

Football Futures Foundation is proud to announce that it has been granted $556,132 through the Federal Government’s Play Our Way program. This grant is part of a national initiative to remove barriers preventing women and girls from participating in sport and physical activity, with a focus on creating safe, inclusive, and purposeful environments for all.

With this funding, Football Futures Foundation will enhance its efforts to provide equitable access and support grassroots initiatives that encourage women and girls to engage in sport throughout their lives. The Play Our Way program focuses on fostering positive, tailored experiences, ensuring that women and girls feel welcomed, respected, and safe, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Through the grant, the Foundation will work toward several key objectives over three years:

  • Promote quality, inclusive, and modern sport opportunities for women and girls, particularly those experiencing intersectional disadvantage.
  • Address barriers to participation by building a culture of equality, respect, and inclusion in sport and physical activity.
  • Tackle discrimination and inequality by creating sustainable pathways for women and girls to remain involved in all aspects of sport.

The Play Our Way program aims to increase participation, retention, and engagement among women and girls, with a focus on priority populations. It will provide the tools and support needed to address the unique challenges faced by women and girls, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive in a sporting environment tailored to their needs.

To celebrate the launch of this exciting initiative, Football Futures Foundation will host a community day on Saturday, 23 November from 9am to 11am at Gibbney Reserve. All are welcome to join in this celebration of inclusivity, sport, and the empowerment of women and girls through the Play Our Way grant.
